No views are displayed in the 'Views' section of the AnyView IDS web application.

24 January 2005

Issue Description

After successfully logging into the AnyView IDS web application, no views are displayed in the 'Views' section of the webpage.  Views have been created or imported and they are displayed in the AnyView IDS Console.

This behavior occurs when the login being used has not been granted access to any views.  General access to views is set at the 'Role' level in the 'View Security' tab of the 'Role Properties' window.  A login ID must be included as a member of the 'Role' for the view security settings to apply

Solution

Access to AnyView IDS content is controlled using 'Logins' and 'Roles' from the 'Security' menu in the AnyView IDS Console.

Launch the AnyView IDS Console.  From the AnyView IDS Console:

  1. Identify the Login and determine if they are a member of a Role.

1.      Expand the 'Security' folder from the console navigation pane and click on 'Logins' to display a list of logins in the console details pane.

2.      From the console details pane, identify and right click on the login that was used to access the web application.  Select 'Modify Login' to open the 'Login Properties' window.

3.      From the 'Login Properties' window click on the 'Roles' tab and identify the role/roles the login is a member of.

4.      If the login is not a member of any role, you can make it a member of a role by clicking on the checkbox next to the role name.

Note: All users MUST be a member of at least ONE role in order to have access to views in AnyView IDS.

  1. Grant the Role access to AnyView IDS views

1.      Expand the 'Security' folder from the console navigation pane and click on 'Roles' to display a list of roles in the console details pane.

2.      From the console details pane, identify and right click on the role identified above.  Select 'Modify Role' to open the 'Role Properties' window.

3.      From the 'Role Properties' window click on the 'View Security' tab.

4.      Locate the views you want to give access to and click on the checkbox next to the view name.  A checkmark next to a view means all members of this role will have access to the view.

5.      When access has been granted to all desired views click 'OK'.  The security settings are applied instantly.
