Issue Description

When launching the AnyView IDS web application or when trying to preview a view within the "View Maintenance" window in the Console, one is presented with the following message:

You are not authorized to view the web page that you have requested.

A more detailed error message is presented in the event log on the web server.  In the Event Viewer on the web server, in the application log the following "Error" message is logged in the "Exception Information" section of the error:

Message: This product has not been activated. Invalid license.

These errors occur when the SQL Server name specified in the "Connection Information" tab of the "AnyView IDS Web Application Setup" window is either not valid or is not the SQL Server that the AnyView IDS database was installed to.  Since the AnyView IDS database cannot be located, the Web Application cannot retrieve the licensing information.

Solution

In order for the AnyView IDS Web Application to be able to retrieve licensing information, the SQL Server name and AnyView IDS database name must be correct in the "Connection Information" tab of the "AnyView IDS Web Application Setup" window.  The information entered in the "AnyView IDS Web Application Setup" window is stored in the Web.config file in the web application physical folder.

This error typically occurs when the shorthand "." is used instead of specifying "(local)" as the SQL Server in the "Connection Information" tab of the "AnyView IDS Web Application Setup" window.

There are two alternate ways to resolve:

1)      Re-run the Web Application install, maintaining all information the same as in the previous install, with the exception of the SQL Server name.

2)      Manually edit the Web.config to change the SQL server name.

Re-run the Web Application Install and enter correct SQL Server name

a)      Locate and run the install file "AccountableSoftwareInc.AnyViewInstall.WebAppInstall.exe".  In a default installation the path to this file is:

C:\Program Files\Accountable Software Inc\AnyView IDS\Setup

b)      In the "AnyView IDS Web Application Setup" window, renter the web site in the "Virtual Directory" tab.

c)      In the "AnyView IDS Web Application Setup" window, "Connection Information" tab renter the database authentication information, and use the pull-down menu to select the correct SQL Server, and AnyView IDS database.

d)      In the "AnyView IDS Web Application Setup" window, "Installation" tab click "Install" and then "Finish".

Provided a Login was created for your user in the AnyView IDS Console, you should now be able access the AnyView IDS web application using your web browser.

Manually edit the Web.config file to include the correct SQL Server name.

a)      Locate the "Web.config" file and open with Notepad.  In a default installation the path to this file is:

C:\Program Files\Accountable Software Inc\AnyView IDS\Web Application

b)      Locate the line for the AnyView Server Machine, for example <add key="Server" value="."

This line will be in the following section of the Web.config:

<!-- AnyView Server Machine -->

   <add key="Server" value="." />

   <!-- AnyView System Database -->

   <add key="SystemDB" value="AnyViewIDS" />

c)       Enter the name of the SQL Server so that, for example, the local SQL Server instance is used:

 <add key="Server" value="(local)"

d)      Save the Web.config and close notepad.

Provided a Login was created for your user in the AnyView IDS Console, you should now be able access the AnyView IDS web application using your web browser.
