Issue Description

Upon launching Explorer, the one of the following error messages is displayed:

Error in GetFavorites routine

or

Error detected in Login Load routine.
Setting Run Favorite
-2147024894 Automation error
The system cannot find the file specified

The ASIEXTEXP.EXE isn't functioning properly. This occurs when ASIEXTEXP.EXE has been moved, but not unregistered and then reregistered.

Solution

Prior to following these steps, confirm that this is, in fact, the problem. To do this, check 'Explorer', 'Help', 'Diagnostics'. If errors occur there, then ASIEXTEXP.EXE needs to be unregistered and reregistered. To do this:

  1. Open a Command Prompt window on the Solomon IV server machine.
In Windows 2000, MS-DOS Prompt was renamed Command Prompt and is located on the Accessories menu.
  2. Change to the Solomon IV directory.
For a standard installation, you would do this by typing "cd\Program Files\Solomon IV" at the 'c:\' prompt.
  3. Type "ASIEXTEXP.EXE /unregserver" and press 'Enter'.
  4. Now type "ASIEXTEXP.EXE" and press 'Enter'.
  5. Close the DOS window.
  6. Retry AnyView. If it still doesn't work, remove ASIEXTEXP.EXE from the Registry manually * and try AnyView again.
  7. If that does not correct the issue, the best course of action would be to reinstall AnyView to the new directory. You will need to follow the steps below to insure there is no conflict with the previous install:
    1. Open a DOS window (on the Solomon IV server).
    2. Change to the Solomon IV directory.
    3. Type ASIEXTEXP.EXE /unregserver and press Enter.

*NOTE: We strongly recommend that the registry be backed up and that you understand how to restore the registry prior to making any modifications.
