Error in save general settings routine: file not found.

Issue Description

While attempting to set up the DSN in the AnyView DSN Setup window, the following error is generated:

Error in save general settings routine: file not found.

After clicking 'OK' the following error message displays:

Error in save settings routine: settings not saved.

This error occurs when the anyview.ini file is missing from the directory where AnyView has been installed.

Solution

This is a known issue in AnyView Installer for Solomon IV build 77, but was resolved in AnyView build 77c1.

To resolve the problem, either download and install the latest version of AnyView for Solomon IV, or create an empty anyview.ini file and place it in the directory where AnyView has been installed.

To create an empty anyview.ini file:

  1. Open Notepad.
  2. From the Save in field, navigate to the directory where AnyView has been installed (in a standard install, the path would be c:\Program Files\Solomon IV).
  3. Select 'File', 'Save As'.
  4. Change the type to 'All Files'.
  5. Name the File Name "anyview.ini"
  6. Click 'Save' and close Notepad.

The AnyView DSN setup window should now function properly.
