Error in ASI_OpenReport Object Required #424

3 January 2003

Issue Description

When printing or delivering a document with Forms Printer, the following error is received, "Error in ASI_Open Report Object Required #424"

This error occurs most often when the dll that is used for Crystal printing and exporting is missing, unregistered, or access has not been granted to the file or it's parent directory.

Solution

This Section For Installations where Crystal 8.5 is used:

On the machine giving the error, use Windows Explorer to browse to the WINNT\System32 folder. Check for the existance of the file "craxdrt.dll".

If the craxdrt.dll file does not exist, it is recommended that Forms Printer be reinstalled.

If the craxdrt.dll file does exist in the WINNT\System32 folder, from the Windows toolbar, click on Start > Run > and type in the command "regsvr32 craxdrt.dll", then click OK. If the dll registers successfully, the message "DllRegisterServer in craxdrt.dll succeeded" will be displayed.

Once registered, run the report in Great Plains.

This Section For Installations where Crystal 9.X or greater is used:

On the machine giving the error, use Windows Explorer to browse to the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\2.0\Bin folder. Check for the existance of the file "craxdrt9.dll".

NOTE: if using Crystal 10, this DLL is named craxdrt.dll and is found in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\2.5\bin\craxdrt.dll

NOTE: if using Crystal XI this DLL is named craxdrt.dll and is found in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Business Objects\3.0\bin\craxdrt.dll

If the craxdrt9.dll file or ( Craxdrt.dll for CR 10, XI)  does not exist, it is recommended that Forms Printer for the appropriate Crystal Engine version, be reinstalled.

Register the craxdrt9.dll file (if using Crystal9), or the craxdrt.dll file for Crystal 10 , XI or greater:

To Register the Craxdrt9.dll for example, click the Windows toolbar, click on Start > Run > and type in the command :

regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\2.0\Bin\craxdrt9.dll"

Then click OK. If the dll registers successfully, the message "DllRegisterServer in craxdrt9.dll succeeded" will be displayed.

Once registered, run the report in Great Plains.
